# THC calculator

How much THC is in your flowers or extract? Enter the details from your pharmacy label. The calculator shows the content in milligrams and, if you wish, how long a quantity will last and how much it costs.

The calculator works out the content, not a dose. How much you use and when is for your doctor to decide.

## How the calculator works

- ### Flowers: amount times THC content
1% THC corresponds to 10 mg of THC per gram of flower. 5 g with 22% THC therefore contain 5 × 22 × 10 = 1,100 mg of THC. The calculator works out CBD in the same way.
- ### THCA is usually already included in the calculation
Flowers contain THC primarily in the form of THCA, a precursor that only converts to THC when heated. According to the European Pharmacopoeia, the label states the total THC content, with THCA already included as THC in this figure. Only if a label lists THC and THCA separately will the calculator convert THCA using the factor 0.877: this is the amount of THC that remains when THCA releases carbon dioxide upon heating.
- ### Up to 10% deviation
The actual content of a flower may deviate by up to 10% from the value on the label. This is why the calculator also shows the range within which the content may lie.
- ### Extracts: concentration times amount
For extracts and dronabinol solutions, the THC concentration is stated on the label, usually in mg/ml. 10 ml at 25 mg/ml contain 250 mg of THC. If the label only gives a percentage, ask your pharmacy for the value in mg/ml.
- ### Supply and costs
The total amount divided by the daily amount gives the number of full days it will last. The calculator works out the cost based on the price per gram that you enter.

## What the calculator cannot do

- ### No dose
The calculator does not recommend any quantity and does not check whether a quantity is suitable for you. Your doctor will determine how much to use and when.
- ### Not what reaches the body
How much THC enters the bloodstream depends on how it is used: according to studies, around 10 to 35% when inhaled, and in some cases only around 6% when taken orally. The calculator shows what the product contains.
- ### Not when you can drive
The rate at which THC is broken down in the body varies so much that it is not possible to calculate a reliable waiting time.
- ### No values per drop
The amount of THC contained in a drop also depends on the dropper. Your pharmacy will provide the figure for your bottle.

## Frequently Asked Questions

How much THC is there in 1 gram of cannabis?

That depends on the THC content: each percentage point corresponds to 10 mg of THC per gram. 1 g of flowers with 20% THC therefore contains 200 mg of THC; with the permitted deviation of up to 10%, between 180 and 220 mg.

Do I still need to convert THCA?

Generally not. The pharmacy label states the total THC content, which already includes the converted THCA. You only need to convert if the label lists THC and THCA separately. You can enter this into the calculator.

Does health insurance cover cannabis flowers?

Since 30 July 2026, statutory health insurance funds have no longer covered the costs of dried cannabis flowers. They may continue to reimburse cannabis extracts of standardised quality and medicinal products containing the active ingredients dronabinol or nabilone under certain conditions. In the case of private health insurance, your policy determines the terms.

Can the calculator tell me when I’ll be allowed to drive again?

No. How quickly the THC level in the blood falls varies so much from person to person that no reliable waiting time can be calculated. The law does not apply the THC limit of 3.5 ng/ml if the THC comes from the proper use of a medicine prescribed for you (§ 24a(4) of the German Road Traffic Act, StVG). You may only drive, however, if you are able to drive safely. Talk to your doctor about this.

Will my entries be saved?

No. The calculator performs its calculations within your browser; your input does not leave your device. Only if it cannot run there – for example, because JavaScript is disabled – will your browser send the input to our server for calculation. It is not stored there either.
