The directory
About lokalmed
lokalmed is an editorially maintained directory for doctors and medical practices in Germany. The focus is on treatments that self-paying patients and those with private health insurance specifically seek out.
What lokalmed is for
On lokalmed, the search does not begin with a specialist’s title, but with the specific area of treatment. Users can find suitable practices on a map, by location and within a certain radius. Practice profiles bring together the address, contact details, treatments offered and the doctors working there.
The guide supplements the directory with easy-to-understand information on selected topics. Articles state the author’s name, the publication date and – if a medical review has taken place – the name of the reviewing doctor. Each article is intended as general information only and is not a substitute for individual medical advice.
How entries are created
Profiles are created and maintained by the editorial team; practices or doctors do not add them automatically themselves. ‘Verified profiles’ means that the published information is checked by the editorial team against publicly available sources relating to the respective practice to ensure it is accurate and up to date. This does not constitute a verification of medical registration, membership of a medical association or authorisation to practise.
Treatments are assigned to a practice because the services offered depend on the location and its facilities. lokalmed does not apply this information across the board to individual doctors. If information is missing or is no longer correct, the editorial team will correct it following a verifiable report.
What lokalmed is not
lokalmed does not book appointments, provide medical advice or make diagnoses. There are no reviews, star ratings, paid testimonials or patient accounts. Contact and bookings are always made directly with the chosen practice; its details and terms and conditions apply.
